Every year from July 1 to August 31, the "Wind Chime Train" is in operation.

This tradition began in 1982 (Showa 57), when the stationmaster at Kanagi Station at the time cut out empty cans and hung them under the eaves to entertain passengers.

Since then, various innovations have been tried, including "Bamboo Wind Chimes" and "Nanbu Ironware." Currently, the train is decorated with wind chimes made from "Tsugaru Kanayama-yaki," a local ceramic ware from Goshogawara. To help passengers better enjoy the pleasant "korokoro" tinkling sound, wind chimes are also installed inside the trains, on footbridges, and at each station.
